"Fabric Art Workshop" by Susan Stein is one of the best books that we carry.  It's the book I wish I had written!  It's table of contents reads like the list of techniques that I offer in my embellishment classes.  It covers everything from using Angelina fibers to painting with Shiva paintstiks, foiling, fabric beads, silk fusion, fabric painting, painting on fusible web, using netting, distressing felt, rust dying, burning fabric, collage and much more.

It's written in an easy to understand language with great photos and step by step instructions for each technique.  Though concise, it's thorough too. It's only downfall is that the Aritist's Gallery section in the back isn't large enough.  This book is the perfect skill builder for anyone who is wanting to move away from sheer traditionalism and inflect a little "artsy fartsy" in their work.
